Its a Trash Game Dev Log

I made this project with my Team Crow Crew Army for the game makers toolkit game jam 2025, the theme was loop. we decided on make a rubbish collecting game with a looped road, the player would use to travel around the small town. As well as a looped game mechanic of collecting bins and people to then dump into the recycling facility.

I started with a quick doodle of the town's layout. I put in key locations like the petrol station and recycling facility, this help me get a sense of where everything should go.

I started with a quick doodle of the town's layout. I put in key locations like the petrol station and recycling facility, this help me get a sense of where everything should go. I started with the roads, using modified cubes to block them out.

I added some hills into the town to break up the landscape and help the player keep track of where they are in the town.

I made some models and textures to help the 3d modelers

Once I got the houses, I was able to fill out the town and create different types of house like the detached housing estate and the terraced housing estate. This avoided any repetition and again helped to make sure the player would know what area of the town they were in in without a map.

I swapped out the cubed roads for a spline, making road look more relistic and easier to change on the go.

I used the same technique for the pathways around the houses.

We got the opportunity to showcase our game as the local game dev network meet up.
